Yet another WordCamp and the experience was fabulous! Word Camp US 2019, one of the prime events hosted by the WordPress community is a global gathering of WordPress enthusiasts who shed light on their ideation, creativity and sharing knowledge.
WordCamp US was a 3-day event conducted from 1st- 3rd of November at America’s Centre, St. Louis, MO. It brought together about 50+ speakers, who took part in conferences and workshops, yoga sessions and the WordFest party. You can watch the event here.
What is WordCamp?
WordCamps are conferences that provide a platform to share thoughts on the effective use of WordPress, which powers more than 75 million sites worldwide. WordCamps creates an open and lively atmosphere for WordPressers to indulge themselves in free knowledge sharing and learning fun.
WordCamp hosts talk sessions from speakers all over the globe sharing thoughts on WordPress. You also get a chance to meet other fellow WordPressers who are just around the corner looking out for new friends.
The WordPress Platform
“About 32.5% of the websites over the internet are powered by WordPress” – Matt Mullenweg, co-founder of WordPress at the State of the Word event in 2018. WordPress users are increasing rapidly and this creates a necessity to push updated versions for the users. This provides a platform to socialize the fellow WordPressers to build a network to stay updated and grow.
WordPress just got easier on Mobile!
An announcement at the ‘State of the event – 2019’ states that, that the addition of a blog editor into mobile helps to add and edit articles within the mobile interface. This will be compatible with android and iOS, providing a feature to do your task when you’re offline.
The main addition is the Gutenberg editor, a block editor plugin. It helps create multimedia-rich images in WordPress that has crossed over 50 million posts.
Another great announcement was WordCamp Asia, the first WordCamp event in Asia. The event will be in February 2020 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Another aspect addresses the mobile phone user. Mobile apps are playing a huge role in all our lives. We use mobile apps for most of our tasks.
Sophisticated mobile apps for a specified purpose is the solution. Since mobile app users are growing, a mobile app for a particular service seals the deal. And we now have developers who convert your WordPress website into a mobile app.
This makes it a useful tool since mobile phone users are extremely high compared to desktop users and would benefit fellow WordPressers who are on the lookout for a more simplified view of their mobiles.
Who should attend?
Since WordCamps see a gathering of WordPressers around the world, the attendees would be designers, developers, bloggers or someone who are just starting out. This presents a great opportunity for creative professionals, photographers etc. who connect indirectly to these WordPress users.
In WordCamp, it is not only about WordPressers who are present, but also companies that provide products for WordPressers, and that includes us. We help people create an app within minutes and start selling their products online. If you’re into an eCommerce platform, a WordPress user and use WooCommerce as your plugin, we can help you convert your website into a native app.
In a few minutes, you will have your own app ready which can be uploaded into the Playstore or App store. You will only have to follow a few steps and download the app and avail the free trial too. After the trial period, you can choose a plan that suits you and continue the subscription.
WordCamp adds a lot of value in terms of the amazing personalities you get to meet and discuss your business with. It’s something that has kept us going back again and again.
In this three day event, we managed to get plenty of insights and were also able to pitch our product to most of the attendees.
What else can you expect from an event?
We are happy to share the insights we gained from WordCamps in these past few years. To pass it onto the community and grow together, we have opted to be the silver sponsors in WordCamp Kochi on Dec 1.
Hope to see you all there!
