The main aim of creating apps are to boost your sales and increase user engagement. Websites alone cannot do this. So now you have used the best WooCommerce-based online store to an Android/iOS app converter. You have worked on the Appmaker dashboard and tried out the different settings, downloaded and tested your apps, and also tried out many more options. After publishing the beautiful and best native apps to both the Google Play Store and Apple app store, your next query would be on when to release an update for the mobile app.
- Every time I make changes on the Appmaker dashboard, should I release a new version update of my mobile app to the stores?
- Will the changes I make reflect on the apps automatically?
- Is there any time interval for updating my apps and releasing the updated version to stores?
In this post, we are going to see what all are the situations which will require you to update a new version of the mobile app to the stores. Let’s get going!
The 2 different types of settings on the dashboard.
There are 2 main settings on the dashboard: ‘Update app’ and the ‘App content’. These settings are used to customise the in-app pages, menu, checkout settings, payment gateways, major UI designs and many more.
We will dig into this more!
The App content
The settings here are dynamic and real-time. All kind of changes that you make here, will be automatically reflected in the app. Let us consider different scenarios.
If you are introducing a new offer, all you have to do is create a banner/slider (use banner/slider widget). You can link the banner/slider to the offer on your website. All you have to do is, save the changes made and TADA! The banner/slider with your offer appears on the app. (You may have to refresh the app or set cache time accordingly though, haha!).
The version update is not required, if you want to add a whole new category of products in the app. For example, you are having a fashion store with Men and Women products. You wish to add a product category of Kids to your store. You can add the Kids category with Men and Women (make use of Grid widget here). Just save the changes and the category will appear on the app without any version update of mobile app on stores.
The same goes for the ‘Menu’ items. You can add, edit and delete menu items and menu grids without updating the mobile app on stores!
The push notification features also do not require any version release.
Now there are various other features: Social Login, Language Caching, Product List, Checkout Settings, Product Detail Tabs, Orders, Advanced settings and Account.
The minor changes like hiding the ‘Add to cart’/’Buy now’ buttons, ‘Quantity switcher’ also can be done easily.
The Update app
The settings here are not dynamic and real-time. After every change you make here, you have to submit the app. When you do this, a new build (new apk/ipa file) is created.
The settings here deal with the main UI changes in the app. The UI includes App icon/name, App splash screen, colours of the buttons and texts, Setting up social logins/push notifications, Language/Currency switcher, RTL options and many more! Any changes made in these features require you to submit for a new apk/ipa.
Every time you create a new apk/ipa, you will have to update this new version of mobile app to the stores. The changes you made will be then available for the users, only after updating the version.
Plugin supports
There are many other plugins available that can add various functionalities to your WooCommerce store. Appmaker.xyz will support those plugins. You can then add the plugin functionalities to your published native apps.
Adding plugin support to Appmaker is also real time and dynamic. You will not need to do the version update of mobile app while integrating any plugin with the Appmaker plugin.
So to sum up everything!
Creating mobile apps with Appmaker.xyz is really very user-friendly and simple. You will not be asked to update your mobile app every time you make changes on the dashboard.
The changes made on the settings in ‘App content’ will get automatically updated on the app. You do not need to submit the app for a new version release.
Any changes made on the settings in ‘Update app’ requires you to download the app from the dashboard. You will have to update new apk/ipa to respective stores and release the new version of your mobile app. It will be then available for your users and they can update their app.
Now if you are having a WooCommerce online store and have not yet created a mobile app, then what are you waiting for! Go on and take your e-commerce business to the next level with the help of Appmaker.
